On April 16, 2026, MESKO, a member of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), signed an investment agreement with Budimex S.A. to expand its ammunition manufacturing capabilities at the Kraśnik facility. This partnership focuses on developing the necessary infrastructure for producing 155 mm ammunition casings.

The project will employ a "design and build" approach, allowing Budimex to oversee both the design and construction phases. Their responsibilities include renovating an existing production hall, expanding another, and constructing a connector between the two. The investment will also create internal roads, storage areas, and enhance the landscaping around the facility.

Renata Gruszczyńska, President of MESKO S.A., highlighted the significance of this expansion, noting the critical demand for 155 mm ammunition. She stated, "The ability to produce these independently is essential for national sovereignty and security. This agreement moves us closer to our goal of producing over 100,000 rounds annually." Currently, the Kraśnik plant produces about 25,000 casings per year.

Valued at over 800 million PLN, the entire investment is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, with full production capabilities anticipated by 2028. This expansion will involve not only modernization and construction but also the acquisition of advanced machinery and software to automate the production process.

The 155 mm artillery ammunition is utilized by NATO forces and is integral to the Polish Army, including its Krab self-propelled howitzers and the South Korean K9 artillery systems.

Budimex S.A. is one of Poland's largest construction firms, employing around 8,000 people and specializing in various infrastructure projects both domestically and internationally.
