Omron has unveiled the Q2V series of frequency converters, engineered to enhance motor control efficiency across a variety of AC motors while minimizing maintenance requirements. These compact devices are designed to provide flexible and energy-efficient operation for asynchronous motors, permanent magnet motors, and synchronous reactive motors.

A key feature of the Q2V is its capability to regulate the frequency of the power supplied to the motor, enabling precise control of speed and acceleration in industrial applications such as pumps and fans. The installation process is user-friendly, with all inputs and outputs featuring screwless terminals, and the hardware is simplified by the inclusion of an electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) filter and a safe torque off (STO) function, along with a braking transistor.

The Q2V converter is also designed for economic efficiency, reducing wiring efforts and associated costs. Users can take advantage of intelligent program tuning, allowing for straightforward adjustments of parameters to meet specific operational needs.

Versatility is another hallmark of the Q2V, which offers dual nominal modes suitable for both heavy-duty and standard operating conditions. This flexibility allows a single inverter model to control motors with varying nominal characteristics based on load conditions. Users can further customize the inverter using application wizards and graphical development tools, enabling them to develop tailored programs.

Reliability is paramount in industrial environments, and the Q2V is constructed to resist dust and moisture, with a lifespan of up to 10 years at temperatures of up to 50 °C without requiring maintenance. The device can collect data at the device level, assisting users in preventing potential failures and minimizing unplanned downtimes. It is capable of logging data onto a local SD card or transmitting it to IT systems via Omron NX/NJ controllers.

In terms of energy efficiency, the Q2V utilizes specialized motor control methods, such as EZ Vector for pumps and fans, to optimize motor operation. Advanced motor control algorithms can enhance efficiency by up to 6% for asynchronous motors and 2% for permanent magnet motors compared to conventional inverters. Furthermore, the Q2V includes specialized energy-saving features for applications with variable or reduced torque characteristics, achieving overall energy savings of up to 50%.
