The Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (PCSS) has made significant strides in quantum technology and digital services. On April 14, 2026, the Piast-Q system was officially launched, marking a key development in quantum computing capabilities in Poland and Europe. This system is now fully operational and ready for advanced computational tasks.

In addition to the Piast-Q system, PCSS is actively working on establishing a national quantum key distribution (QKD) infrastructure. This initiative aims to bolster cybersecurity by creating a robust network that connects high-performance computing centers across Poland, facilitating secure communication among public institutions and critical infrastructure operators.

Furthermore, PCSS is collaborating on the QKD Network Germany-Poland-Czechia project, which seeks to develop a secure quantum infrastructure linking these three countries. This network will be the first of its kind in Central Europe, employing Quantum Key Distribution technology to ensure secure communications that are resilient to future cyber threats posed by quantum computing.

These initiatives highlight PCSS's role in advancing digital technologies and enhancing Poland's position in the global technology landscape. As the center continues to innovate, it plays a crucial role in bridging scientific research with practical applications in cybersecurity and quantum computing.
